Being in this industry now for well over a decade, you learn more and more about what is available. Yes there is free rehab out there. You just need to know where to look, and who is offering it. You also need to know the steps you need to take to get it. At the moment you can get it through some charity rehab centres, and also through the NHS. Sadly the NHS is the slowest route, but understandable due to the pressures they are under.
Charity Rehab Centres
The crazy part of it all is, charity rehab centres seem to want to keep clients in for 12 to 18 months. This I can never understand as our residential rehab centres have an 85% with a maximum stay of 24 weeks. Most clients prefer to do the 4 week program. So why on earth would you need to stay in a charity rehab centre for 12 to 18 months? I feel they would be better off helping many more clients by offering a shorter stay. (My opinion).
My experience of detox
I was an alcoholic and I fully understand the pressures involved in being an alcoholic. Also I fully understand the process of detox and how it feels. I will never understand why I did not do it years before I did. It was easy, comfortable and quick. After my detox, (I explain this to a lot of clients), it was like coming out of a cloud of chaos. I could this big cloud of chaos behind me swirling round and round. Then all of a sudden I could understand things. also I could see things clearly. I could smell things. Taste things. It was like being young again. Everything made sense. Nothing seemed difficult.
